Los Angeles Rams vs. Minnesota Vikings: 10 deep dive observations Ten observations from Los Angeles Rams vs. Minnesota Vikings in Week 4. But first Dante Fowler Jersey , the snap count distributions.OffenseDefense Special Teams 1.Leaders galore. The majority of Week Four games have yet to be played, but Los Angeles currently has the NFL leader in passing yards (Jared Goff), rushing yards (Todd Gurley), three of the eight top receivers (Brandin Cooks, Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp), and the top tackler in the NFC (Cory Littleton). 2.Kirk Cousins had a field day, but the Vikings couldn’t run. It’s no secret that Minnesota’s offensive line has struggled, but Minnesota’s rushing attack was still listless. Dalvin Cook and Latavius Murray combined for only 22 yards on 12 carries. The Rams have now held opposing rushers to under 100 yards in three of four games to start the season. 3.Averaging a first down is anything but average. Among the ridiculous stats of this week, the Rams offense racked up 10.1 yards PER PLAY on offense. Los Angeles is second in the league so far in yards per play (7.38) and passing yards per play (9.81) behind Tampa Bay so far this season. 4.Sacks in bunches. Cousins was getting the ball out lightning quick, but the fourth quarter was big for the previously sagging Rams’ pass rush. Aaron Donald picked up two sacks, Ndamukong Suh snagged one and John Franklin-Myers had the decisive sack-fumble to secure the win. 5.Secondary struggles. Marcus Peters gutted out all 74 defensive snaps and Sam Shields stepped in admirably, but both had a hard time containing Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen. All three of the Vikings touchdowns were assessed to Peters’ and Shields’ coverage C.J. Anderson Jersey , according to PFF, including the first score, where Peters gambled on an interception and was beaten by a tremendous throw from Cousins to Aldrick Robinson. 6.Goff is historic. The “system quarterback” conversation surrounding Goff seems like it happened a millennia ago. Goff became the first quarterback in NFL history with three straight games of 350 passing yards and a 75 percent completion percentage, according to ESPN Stats and Info. 7.His weapons are historic too. According to Elias Sports Bureau, the Rams Thursday night became only the second team in NFL history to have three wide receivers gain at least 100 yards and each score a touchdown along with the 1995 Detroit Lions. 8.Fun rhyme, bad results. Kickin’ Sam Ficken is struggling and the Rams had better hope a long layoff will be enough for Greg Zuerlein to return. Ficken missed a chip shot 28-yard field goal that could have put the game out of reach to get him to 1 of 3 on the season. This historic offense is papering over the kicking game problems, but the Rams may have to look elsewhere if Ficken struggles again. 9.Andrew Whitworth is human. “Big Whit” was beat for a sack in the third quarter by Danielle Hunter, but the Rams still have the fourth best sack rate in the league with sacks surrendered on only 3.7 percent of dropbacks. 10.On the way up. Gerald Everett played 23 snaps, by far his largest total of the season, after Tyler Higbee briefly exited for an injury. The tight ends are still an afterthought, but the Rams’ first three tight end set of the season yielded a touchdown when Woods roasted his defender for a 31-yard score in the third quarter. After a brutal week 4 loss, the Los Angeles Rams don’t have that much time to be surly about the state of the team because it’s game night! That’s right Eric Weddle Jersey , Thursday Night Football, which usually features a terrible matchup, is actually pretty great week 5 matchup this week. So, about the Seattle Seahawks... it’s clear that they arguably the biggest rival to the LA Rams these days and they’ve started off hot.Let’s look at five Seahawks to keep an eye on tonight:QB Russell WilsonPhoto by Jennifer Stewart/Getty ImagesIt’s difficult to put in words how much of an impact Wilson has had on the NFL. You could argue that guys like QB Baker Mayfield, QB Kyler Murray, and even QB Johnny Maziel were drafted higher they would have because of Wilson. Though he’s undersized, Wilson keeps defenses on their toes with his athleticism and his arm. Wilson is playing lights out so far, with a 72.9 completion percentage and 1,141 passing yards through four games. Long story short: if the Rams’ defense can contain Wilson, they’ll win the game.LB Bobby WagnerPhoto by Norm Hall/Getty ImagesFor a guy with no sacks, forced fumbles, or interceptions Austin Blythe Jersey , it’s impressive that Wagner is still having a great start to the season with 45 tackles. Wagner is a disruptive player and a tackle machine. If the Rams want to get their run game rolling, Wagner is going to be a pretty formidable obstacle. DE Jadeveon ClowneyPhoto by Jennifer Stewart/Getty ImagesClowney’s pick-six last week against the Arizona Cardinals was pretty clutch, proving that the Seahawks’ defense has more juice than it did last year. But still, if you take away his touchdown, CLowney’s numbers are rather pedestrian — his six tackles pale in comparison to Wagner, but it’s a different position and he’s acclimating to a new team. It’ll be interesting to see how the Rams’ offensive line deals with Clowney. TE Will DisslyPhoto by Kevin Abele/Icon Sportswire via Getty ImagesI’m sorry, who is this guy? Well, he’s a touchdown monster, so learn his name. Dissly is a fourth-round pick from 2018 (a former Washington University teammate of S Taylor Rapp). He has four touchdowns this season and since the Rams usually struggle with big tight ends, the 6’4” Dissly should be given some ample attention. Having missed most of his rookie season with a knee injury, Dissly is ready to prove that he was as steal in last year’s draft. The Rams will be without starting ILB Bryce Hager, so if it’s LB Troy Reeder or whoever... they should be giving some extra attention to this guy.RB Chris CarsonPhoto by Jennifer Stewart/Getty ImagesIs Carson the man at running back for the Seahawks? Well Sean Mannion Jersey , if he stops fumbling the ball, he will be. Having coughed up the ball twice, both times resulting in a turnover, Carson is looking to nail down his ball security. Last week’s game was without a turnover, as he rushed for 104 yards off of 22 attempts — that’s a strong performance from a guy that’s looking to solidify himself as a big-time RB1. The Rams need to focus in on Carson and with some hard tackles from guys like DE Michael Brockers and DE Aaron Donald, a fumble wouldn’t be the craziest outcome to conjure up. The 3-1 Seattle Seahawks made some smart acquisitions this offseason. They aren’t a team that’s willing to roll over and let the LA Rams (or the San Francisco 49ers) take the NFC West without a fight. These five guys are just a taste of what the Rams are going to face tonight. Buckle up, Ramily. We’re in for a brawl.
